Job summary

Manhattan Construction Group seeks a VDC Manager 1 to oversee virtual design/coordination on projects, ensuring data translates into field actions and meets owner/designer requirements.

You will lead VDC teams, maintain coordination with clients and consultants, and drive productive use of BIM processes to reduce risk and costs on site.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related field, or related experience.
  • 8 years of industry experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with preconstruction coordination and other VDC efforts.
  • Assist with reports regarding coordination efforts on the project.
  • Review the owner contract for VDC/BIM requirements.
  • Prepare VDC/BIM portion of the contract and communicate project needs.
  • Oversee coordination performance and maintain client/designer relationships.
  • Lead project meetings and ensure field implementation of virtual data.
  • Conduct quality control inspections regarding the model.

POSITIONSUMMARY:

The VDC Manager 1 is responsible for managingthe usage of VDC technologies for a given project or multiple projects,including assisting in completing any contractual requirements and utilizingthe technology to maximize productivity and risk mitigation. This individualwill assist in ensuring that the project(s) adhere to all VDC standards and anyowner or design team requirements. The position entails managing allVDC-related team members and subcontractors involved in the virtual aspect of agiven project. The VDC Manager 1 is responsible for ensuring that the dataproduced in the virtual environment is implemented in the field properly and iscommunicated to all parties involved in the project accurately.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist with preconstruction coordination and other VDC efforts.
  • Assists with reports regarding the coordination efforts of theproject.
  • Resolves conflict with subcontractors.
  • Review the owner contract for all references to VDC and BIM effortsto ensure the Execution Plan follows those requirements.
  • Prepare the VDC/BIM portion of the contract and help communicatethe project's needs for VDC efforts during the procurement process.
  • Oversee coordination performance of project, keep up to date withthe overall performance of the project, including status and schedule, andmaintain relationships with clients, designers, and consultants.
  • Maintain coordination efforts to reduce added cost to the tradesand the project.
  • Attend and lead project meetings.
  • Conduct quality control inspections regarding the model.
  • Demonstrate commitment to an Injury-Free Environment through ownactions and mentoring others.
  • Provide assistance in demoing of software / technologies
  • Duties as listed in VDC Engineer 1 and VDC Engineer 2descriptions.
  • Responsible for conducting themselves in accordance with ourGuiding Principles and exhibiting attributes matching the Way We Work.
  • Other duties as assigned.
JOBSKILLS & ABILITIES GUIDELINES:
  • Computer knowledge and efficiency, including Autodesk Suite, Bluebeam, Revizto, Tekla, and Microsoft Office
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s Degree- Construction Management, Engineering or equivalent. May substitute required education degree with related experience on a one-to-one basis
  • 8 years of industry experience
WORKINGCONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORTS:
  • Ability to physically stand, bend, sit for long periods, and squat throughout the day.
  • Ability to repeat the same movements.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to participate fully in meetings, video conferences, and phone calls.
  • Use hands to type, handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or control.
  • Occasionally lift, pull, or move up to 25 lbs.
  • Occasional travel will be required, primarily in the metropolitan area but sometimes domestically (must have a valid Driver’s License).
