Qualifications

  • 5+ years of extensive experience with mechanical VDC content creation, Revit family building, and database management.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Autodesk Revit and Fabrication CADmep with strong piping content knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Revit libraries and Fabrication CADmep databases, creating highly parametric families and ITMs.
  • Configure and maintain map.ini and global settings for uniform hydronic workflows.

Job description

Job Summary:

The VDC Content Developer is responsible for the expert management, creation, and maintenance of the business's Revit family libraries and Fabrication CADmep databases for hydronic, plumbing, and process piping trades. This role ensures the integrity and efficiency of digital assets through the development of parametric Revit families and fabrication content to support piping VDC teams. The developer provides high-level technical support for database-related issues and maintains synchronization between digital models and shop fabrication requirements. This position reports directly to the VDC Process Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Extract, configure, and apply trade-specific database content (ITMs, RFMs, Revit families) from the master database to active project models in collaboration with regional teams.
  • Manage all aspects of Revit libraries and Fabrication CADmep databases, including the creation and testing of highly parametric Revit families and fabrication ITMs.
  • Configure and maintain primary database settings (map.ini) and global configurations to ensure uniformity across all hydronic workflows.
  • Conduct regular audits of the database and Revit libraries to eliminate duplicates, broken links, or legacy piping data.
  • Build and optimize piping "Services" and "Service Templates" to streamline the drafting and spooling processes.
  • Establish and maintain material specifications (Material, Schedule, Pressure Class, End Preps) to ensure digital content matches shop inventory and weld standards.
  • Coordinate with piping shop foremen and fabrication managers to ensure database exports synchronize seamlessly with spooling and tracking software.
  • Manage ancillary kits (bolts, gaskets, hangers, seismic bracing) and coordinate with external vendors for outsourced content creation to ensure deliverables meet standards.
  • Act as the primary technical support for VDC personnel regarding piping database errors, Revit family issues, or connectivity problems.
Position Requirements (Work Experience, Skills, Licenses, etc.):
  • Expert-level proficiency in Autodesk Revit, specifically within the Family Editor environment.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Autodesk Fabrication CADmep.
  • Current proficiency in Navisworks Manage and Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC/BIM 360).
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in Bluebeam Revu and Smartsheet.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.
Education and Experience:
Required:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of extensive experience with mechanical VDC content creation, Revit family building, and database management.
Desired:
  • Expertise in Mechanical Piping, Process Piping, and Plumbing trades.

Travel Requirements:

Travel required 5% of the time to other office locations.

Hours:

This is a non-exempt position from Monday through Friday. Work hours begin and end between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm with a one-hour break for lunch and two rest breaks. Eight hours per day is required and other occasional overtime may be necessary for business needs.

Competitive Wages:

$50.15-$76.23 per hour.
