Job summary

ACCO Engineered Systems is seeking a VDC Enablement Lead in Pleasanton, CA to coordinate onboarding, assessments and curriculum execution for VDC detailing staff. This role partners with Enablement Team and Instructors to ensure training aligns with current standards.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in mechanical construction VDC, strong skills in Revit/Navisworks/ACCBD, and proven ability to translate complex technical concepts into actionable plans for instructors and new hires.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Education, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical construction VDC with strong knowledge spanning sheet metal and hydronic/piping systems.

Responsibilities

  • Onboarding Execution: Facilitate the established technical onboarding workflow for all new VDC detailers.
  • Skill Assessment Administration: Administer standardized technical skill assessments and identify knowledge gaps.
  • Curriculum Utilization & Collaboration: Leverage VDC training curriculums and content; collaborate on updates and improvements.
  • Instructor Coordination: Prepare lesson plans and materials for VDC Instructors with clear learning objectives.
  • Process & Standards Alignment: Align training materials with SOPs, software standards and workflow upgrades.
  • Program Feedback: Collect feedback and refine learning experiences with Enablement Team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Job Summary:

The VDC Enablement Lead serves as a senior-level subject matter expert dedicated to coordinating and executing the programs that support the VDC personnel lifecycle within the business. This role facilitates technical onboarding workflows and administers a robust skill assessment framework to ensure the seamless integration of all detailing staff. By working closely with the Enablement Team and Technical Instructors, the Lead ensures that training execution aligns with current organizational standards and technical requirements. This individual contributor role focuses on the optimization of standardized curriculums while providing vital support for technical instruction delivery.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Onboarding Execution: Facilitate the established technical onboarding workflow for all new VDC detailers. Track onboarding milestones, coordinate cross-departmental touchpoints, and ensure a consistent, seamless integration experience for every new hire.
  • Skill Assessment Administration: Administer standardized technical skill assessments for new team members. Evaluate assessment results to identify knowledge gaps and provide data-driven recommendations regarding targeted training interventions.
  • Curriculum Utilization & Collaboration: Leverage established VDC training curriculums and content packages. Collaborate with the broader Enablement Team to review training materials, participate in content updates, and provide field-level feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Instructor Coordination: Prepare and provide the structured lesson plans, materials, and learning objectives to the VDC Technical Instructors for facilitation. Provide ongoing support to ensure they have the necessary context to deliver effective training.
  • Process & Standards Alignment: Participate in reviews with VDC Process Leads/Managers to ensure that the training materials and onboarding programs being utilized remain perfectly aligned with the latest Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), software standards, and workflow upgrades.
  • Program Feedback: Monitor the day-to-day effectiveness of the training materials and onboarding workflows. Gather feedback from instructors and trainees, sharing insights with the Enablement Team to continuously refine the learning experience.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Position Requirements (Work Experience, Skills, Licenses, etc.):
  • High-level proficiency in industry-standard tools, including Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, and Autodesk Construction Cloud/BIM 360.
  • Experience in coordinating technical training programs, administering professional assessments, and utilizing standardized corporate curriculums.
  • Strong evaluative skills with the ability to administer objective technical assessments and accurately analyze the resulting data to identify talent gaps.
  • Ability to clearly understand complex, highly technical concepts and translate them into actionable coordination plans for instructors and new hires.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to work independently, manage complex coordination tasks, and influence stakeholders.
Education and Experience:

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Education, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of extensive experience in mechanical construction VDC with strong technical knowledge spanning both sheet metal and hydronic/piping systems.

Travel required 25-75% of the time to other office locations.

Hours:

This is an exempt position. Workdays are scheduled from Monday through Friday. Typically, work hours begin and end between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm as scheduled with the position's supervisor. Work outside of regular hours may occasionally be necessary to meet business needs.

Competitive Wages:

$106,000 to $143,000 annually. Applicants, please note that actual compensation is determined by several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, depth of experience, certifications, relevant education or training, and specific work location, among others. The offered wage or salary is only one aspect of an employee's total compensation.
