Job summary

Ryan Companies US, Inc. is seeking a VDC Engineer in Austin to provide BIM administration and coordination across projects. You will assemble 3D content, support the project team, and help with estimation, scheduling, logistics, and conflict resolution before construction begins.

The role emphasizes traveling to job sites, coordinating with design and construction teams, and leveraging building information models to drive project success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Construction Engineering/Management, Architecture or Engineering.
• Minimum of 1 year in the construction or design field.
• Software system implementation and/or upgrades experience preferred.
• General knowledge of estimating techniques, cost control, and material pricing.
• Strong interest in construction related technology.
• Ability to quickly learn multiple applications related to virtual construction (Navisworks, Revit, Civil 3D, Sketchup, Horizontal Glue, VICO, Tekla).
• Understanding of scheduling techniques and project coordination.

Responsibilities

• Create and integrate construction models for coordinating activities and resolving conflicts between design and construction disciplines.
• Identify clashes between building systems to resolve conflicts before on-site work.
• Facilitate coordination meetings with subcontractors and vendors.
• Create 4D schedules to align construction model with project schedule and update look-ahead plans.
• Perform quantity take-offs from the model for estimating and planning.
• Update and manage the construction model as a record for ownership transfer.
