Job description

We help companies align their technology with their business goals, reduce risk, and unlock new levels of efficiency. Whether it’s a fast-growing startup or an established enterprise, Sourcepass provides the expertise, scalability, and human touch to help our clients thrive in a digital-first world. Sourcepass is owned and operated by technology, security, and managed services experts who are passionate about delivering an IT experience that clients love.

Position

The Virtual Chief Information Officer (vCIO) serves as a strategic technology advisor to an assigned portfolio of clients, aligning technology strategy and priorities with business objectives. The vCIO develops a strong understanding of each client’s organization, operational needs, and technology environment. Through strategic guidance and long-term planning, the vCIO helps clients reduce technology risk, prioritize initiatives, improve operational resilience, and maximize the value of their technology investments.

Working closely with Client Success, Solutions, Security, Professional Services, and Service Delivery teams, the vCIO owns the strategic technology planning process for assigned accounts and translates complex technical considerations into clear, actionable recommendations that support long-term client success and business value.

Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic technology guidance to assigned clients, aligning technology priorities and initiatives with business objectives and long-term needs.
  • Own the development, delivery, and ongoing maintenance of Strategic Technology Assessments (STAs) for assigned Strategic Accounts.
  • Review and provide quality control of STAs for designated CSMs and client accounts, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and actionable recommendations.
  • Develop and maintain multi-year client technology roadmaps addressing infrastructure, cloud, security, lifecycle, scalability, and evolving business requirements.
  • Assess client technology environments to identify opportunities to improve performance, security, resiliency, scalability, and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain strategic relationships with client executives and key stakeholders through recurring meetings, business reviews, presentations, and workshops.
  • Translate complex technical concepts, risks, and recommendations into clear, actionable insights for client executives and organizational stakeholders.
  • Identify technology, cybersecurity, lifecycle, and compliance risks and provide recommendations aligned with applicable standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Assist clients with technology budgeting, forecasting, lifecycle planning, cost optimization, and prioritization of technology investments.
  • Provide strategic guidance for business continuity, disaster recovery, backup, and organizational resiliency.
  • Partner with Client Success, Solutions, Security, Engineering, Professional Services, and Service Delivery teams to ensure proposed solutions align with client needs and strategic technology roadmaps.
  • Serve as a strategic and technical escalation resource for CSMs/CSCs and other client-facing personnel on complex client technology needs and initiatives.
  • Identify strategic technology initiatives and service opportunities that address documented client needs and deliver measurable business value.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • Minimum of eight years of progressive experience in IT leadership, technology strategy, consulting, architecture, or advisory services.
  • Experience working within a Managed Service Provider (MSP), Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP), or technology consulting environment is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing technology strategies and roadmaps aligned with client business objectives and operational priorities.
  • Broad technical knowledge across infrastructure, cloud technologies, cybersecurity, networking, business continuity, and modern workplace solutions.
  • Working knowledge of technology risk, cybersecurity best practices, and common regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Strong business and financial acumen, including experience with technology budgeting, forecasting, vendor management, cost optimization, and investment planning.
  • Exceptional executive communication, presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business recommendations.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple client relationships, priorities, and strategic initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across technical, operational, sales, and client-facing teams.
  • Relevant professional certifications such as CISSP, PMP, ITIL, Microsoft, or other industry-recognized certifications are considered advantageous.

The vCIO primarily operates in a remote environment, delivering strategic advisory services through virtual client meetings, executive presentations, workshops, assessments, and ongoing consultation.
