Job summary

CompassMSP is seeking a Virtual Chief Information Officer (vCIO) to serve as a strategic technology advisor for MSP clients. You will collaborate with client leadership to align IT strategy with business objectives, ensuring technology drives growth, innovation, and operational excellence.

You will lead IT governance, risk management, budgeting, and vendor negotiations, provide CIO-level consulting, and oversee cybersecurity and compliance frameworks (HIPAA, GDPR, SOC2).

Qualifications

• Proven experience in IT leadership, preferably as CIO or IT Director.
• Strong MSP business model knowledge and managed services delivery.
• Expertise in cloud services, cybersecurity, compliance frameworks, and infrastructure management.
• Excellent communication skills translating technical concepts for business audiences.
• Strong vendor management and negotiation experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (Master's degree preferred).

• Develop multi-year IT roadmaps tailored to client needs.
• Lead QBRs to evaluate progress and adapt strategies.
• Align technology initiatives with client goals, budgets, and timelines.

The vCIO works closely with client leadership teams to align IT strategies with business objectives, ensuring technology is a driver for growth, innovation, and operational excellence.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Strong understanding of MSP business models and managed services delivery.
• Expertise in cloud services, cybersecurity, compliance frameworks, and infrastructure management.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

• IT Governance & Risk Management
  • Oversee IT policies, compliance, and security frameworks (HIPAA, GDPR, SOC2, etc.).
  • Conduct technology alignment assessments to identify risks and improvement areas.
  • Develop disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
• Budgeting & Vendor Management
  • Design and manage client IT budgets ensuring cost-effectiveness and ROI.
  • Negotiate with vendors and service providers on behalf of clients.
  • Monitor vendor performance to meet SLA and business expectations.
• Cybersecurity Oversight
  • Advise on security posture improvements and recommend tools for protection.
  • Review and oversee implementation of backup, recovery, and endpoint security strategies.
