Job description

Vattenfall International Trainee Programme

Join talented and curious minds who challenge the way we work, think, and create. At Vattenfall, we’re looking for passionate people ready to explore new ideas, drive real change, and take part in shaping a fossil‑free future.

Please note that there will be no new intake in 2026, as we take the opportunity to review and strengthen the programme even further.

The next Vattenfall International Trainee Programme is planned to start in 2027. We will keep this website updated once the time frame for the next application period has been confirmed.

Stay tuned for updates and upcoming opportunities to grow your career with us.

What you can expect

The Vattenfall International Trainee Programme is more than just a job — it’s a launchpad for curious, ambitious talents who want to make a real impact on the energy transition.

Over 12 months, starting each September, you’ll combine learning, collaboration, and hands‑on experience while being part of an international network of trainees from across Europe. You’ll be hired into a specific role and location — but your journey will be truly global.

x

The programme begins with an onboarding period in your home department, where you build a solid foundation and get to know your team and business area. You’ll then take part in four international Trainee Weeks held across Europe, featuring workshops, site visits, team‑building, and sessions with senior leaders. One highlight is the Hackathon at our R&D centre in Sweden — a chance to work on a real‑time business case together with other trainees.

You’ll also complete two short‑term assignments, with at least one abroad, exploring new parts of the business while gaining insights into different cultures and technologies. Travel and accommodation are covered.

Throughout the year, you’ll receive personal development coaching to support your professional and personal growth. By the end of the programme, you’ll have gained valuable experience, a strong network, and the confidence to take the next step in your career at Vattenfall.
