Job summary

Surgery Partners, Inc is seeking a vascular ultrasound assistant to support the clinical team in the vascular center. You will interact with patients, physicians, and dialysis facilities, contributing to community educational programs and outreach.

No nights, no weekends, and no on-call. You will perform ultrasound imaging, assist radiology staff, ensure safety, and help prepare images for radiologists.

Qualifications

• Possess knowledge to perform all vascular ultrasound procedures.
• Provide outstanding customer service to patients, physicians, visitors and co-workers.
• Adhere to safety protocols and patient safety initiatives.
• ARDMS RVT certification required.
• Minimum one year experience in interventional radiology, special procedures, cardiac cath lab or general diagnostic preferred.
• Knowledge of sterile technique.
• ACLS certification required or obtainable within 3 months.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and positions patient for diagnostic imaging procedures
• Perform ultrasound imaging and related procedures in all areas of ultrasound
• Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintain a demeanor complementary to medical ethics
• Adjusts immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified area of body requested by physician
• Explains procedures to patient to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation
• Moves imaging equipment into specified position, determines exposure factors on basis of height, weight, portion of body involved, and degree of penetration required, and adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors and produce images of proper detail, density, and accuracy
• Practices radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patient and staff
• Performs specialized and routine diagnostic radiology procedures, including nuclear medicine and sonography
• Assists radiologist in fluoroscopic and special x-ray examinations
• Prepares images for reading by radiologist or requesting physician
• Performs routine maintenance, diagnoses malfunctions, and makes minor repairs on radiologic equipment, arranging for repairs as needed
• Completes forms and maintains records, logs and reports of work performed
• Monitor patients during procedures, operating a C-Arm (within the scope of practice)
• Prepares equipment which includes cleaning and sterilizing instruments, maintain inventory of medical supplies
