Job summary

University of Maryland Medical System is seeking a Vascular Access Nurse (CNII) at UMMC Midtown Campus. The role focuses on assessment, insertion, and maintenance of vascular access devices, including PIVs, midlines, and PICCs, to support timely medications and patient care.

The CNII collaborates with the health care team, directs care, and ensures adherence to infection prevention standards. Requires MD RN license, two years of nursing experience, and BLS/ACLS certifications where applicable.

Qualifications

• RN license active and in good standing.
• Strong knowledge of vascular anatomy and physiology.
• Proficiency with ultrasound-guided vascular access.
• Excellent assessment and critical thinking skills.
• Familiarity with central line maintenance and infection prevention.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients to determine the most appropriate vascular access device.
• Insert and maintain PIVs, midlines, PICCs as indicated.
• Assist with central venous access management and troubleshoot complications.
• Educate patients and staff on vascular access best practices.
• Monitor for and prevent device-related infections and complications.
• Ensure compliance with evidence-based standards and hospital policies.
