Job summary

Baystate Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for the IV Team/Vascular Access Service at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA. This per diem role supports vascular access across hospital settings and requires autonomy with collaboration for safe patient care.

Responsibilities include assessing access needs, inserting lines, coordinating with care teams, and educating patients. Shifts are 12 hours (7A-7P or 7P-7A), with weekend coverage and ongoing professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Current Massachusetts Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• One (1) or more years of registered nursing experience.
• Demonstrated ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients and determine vascular access needs.
• Insert and maintain peripheral intravenous lines and vascular devices.
• Collaborate with physicians and nursing teams to support care.
• Monitor for changes in condition and respond appropriately.
• Educate patients and families on vascular access therapies.
• Document assessments, procedures, outcomes accurately and timely.
• Uphold infection prevention and regulatory standards.
• Engage in quality improvement and professional development.
