Job summary

Swartz Creek High School is seeking an Assistant Varsity Wrestling Coach to support the varsity wrestling program with dedication and mentorship. The role focuses on fostering discipline, competition, and character, while assisting the head coach in all aspects of the program.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for wrestling, teamwork, and developmental guidance for student-athletes, with an emphasis on safety, sportsmanship, and academic accountability.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of wrestling techniques, rules, and strategies.
• Ability to build positive relationships and motivate student-athletes.
• Availability for practices, meets, tournaments, and team-related travel.
• Current CPR/AED certification or willingness to obtain.
• MHSAA CAP 1 or 2 certification (preferred).
• Prior wrestling coaching or competitive experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Coach in organizing and running practices, matches, and tournaments.
• Provide instruction, encouragement, and mentorship to student-athletes.
• Ensure athlete safety and well-being during all team activities.
• Uphold and enforce school, district, league, and MHSAA rules and policies.
• Promote sportsmanship, discipline, and academic accountability.
• Maintain professional and respectful communication with athletes, families, officials, and staff.
• Serve as a positive role model in conduct, language, and professionalism.
