Job summary

Swartz Creek High School is seeking a dedicated Boys Varsity Bowling Head Coach to guide a competitive program. You will lead all aspects of the team, from player development to competition preparation, while upholding district values and ensuring a safe, inclusive environment for student-athletes.

The ideal candidate demonstrates strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, with a commitment to academics, sportsmanship, and personal growth of players.

Qualifications

  • Proven organizational skills suitable for leading a high school varsity program.
  • Ability to motivate and work effectively with students and adults.
  • Availability for all team commitments, including practices, travel, tournaments, and events.
  • Current CPR/AED certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Previous high school bowling coaching experience preferred.
  • MHSAA CAP 1 or 2 certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all aspects of the boys varsity bowling program, including player development, practice planning, competition preparation, and equipment management.
  • Provide instruction in bowling fundamentals, techniques, strategies, and sportsmanship.
  • Supervise student-athletes during all team functions, practices, competitions, travel, and events.
  • Monitor and support student-athlete academic eligibility and encourage academic success.
  • Ensure compliance with school, district, league, and MHSAA policies and procedures.
  • Foster a safe, respectful, inclusive, and team-oriented environment emphasizing sportsmanship, discipline, accountability, and personal growth.
  • Communicate effectively with players, families, officials, coaches, administrators, and community stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the Athletic Director and school staff, responding to guidance in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain appropriate team records, schedules, rosters, and other required documentation; promote positive relationships among student-athletes, coaches, families, and the school community.
  • Serve as a role model through conduct, language, and behavior, upholding the values of Swartz Creek High School.
