Swartz Creek High School seeks a passionate Varsity Sideline Cheer Coach to lead a competitive, inclusive program aligned with the district’s core values. You will guide athlete development, plan practices, choreograph routines, and manage equipment for football and basketball events.

Qualifications

• Proven organizational skills and knowledge of sideline cheer suitable for leading a high school varsity program.
• Ability to motivate and work effectively with student-athletes and adults.
• Availability for all team-related commitments, including practices, games, competitions, travel, and events.
• Current CPR/AED certification or willingness to obtain.
• Previous high school cheer coaching experience preferred.
• MHSAA CAP 1 or 2 certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead all aspects of the varsity sideline cheer program, including athlete development, practice planning, routines, choreography, and equipment management.
• Prepare and lead student-athletes in sideline cheer activities for athletic events, including football and basketball games and other school-sponsored events.
• Supervise student-athletes during all practices, games, competitions, travel, and team functions.
• Ensure compliance with school, district, league, and MHSAA policies and regulations.
• Foster a safe, respectful, inclusive, and team-oriented environment emphasizing sportsmanship, discipline, school spirit, and positive representation of Swartz Creek High School.
• Develop student-athletes’ skills in cheerleading, teamwork, leadership, communication, and performance.
• Coordinate effectively with athletic teams, coaches, administrators, officials, families, and community stakeholders.
• Communicate effectively and professionally with players, families, officials, coaches, administrators, and community stakeholders.
• Collaborate with the Athletic Director and school staff, responding to guidance and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
• Maintain appropriate records, schedules, equipment, uniforms, and other program-related responsibilities.
• Promote positive school spirit and serve as an ambassador for Swartz Creek High School at athletic events and community activities.
• Serve as a role model through conduct, language, and behavior, upholding the values and expectations of Swartz Creek High School.
