Job summary

Junípero Serra High School is seeking a part-time Supervisor: Athletic Director & Assistant Principal-Student Life to oversee the volleyball program and student-athlete activities onsite in San Mateo, CA. The role requires coaching experience, strong leadership and adherence to sportsmanship values as well as CPR/First Aid certification.

The position is onsite at Junípero Serra High School with a stipend and an hourly wage of $18.60, for the 2026-2027 year.

Qualifications

• Three years of successful high school volleyball coaching or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of fundamental and advanced volleyball techniques.
• Current CPR/First Aid, NFHS or ASEP certification.
• Ability to teach, supervise, and model conduct and sportsmanship.
• Willingness to attend clinics and stay professionally current.

Responsibilities

• Supervise athletes before, during, and after workouts.
• Maintain knowledge of rules and bylaws at school, league, section, and state level.
• Foster training in conduct, ethics and sportsmanship.
• Work with Athletic Director to resolve issues and support program goals.
• Attend clinics and professional development to update expertise.

Location: Onsite - Junipero Serra High School, San Mateo, CA
FLSA Status: Part-Time
Compensation: $18.60 per hour plus $7,661.00 stipend for 2026-2027 School Year

Essential Duties and Accountabilities:

• Supports the fundamental philosophy, skills and techniques for the program
• Maintains a knowledge of all sports, school, league, section and state rules and bylaws
• Foster training in conduct, ethics and sportsmanship for all athletes and coaches
• Supervision of the athletes before, during and after workouts
• Shall continually update professional expertise in the appropriate area by attending clinics, joining professional organizations, reading professional literature or any other acceptable means
• Work with the Athletic Director to solve problems at the lowest level while supporting the ideas of the program/parent/coaches concerning procedures
• Shall perform such necessary details in this position which are not specifically stated but which are considered by competent authorities to be generally associated with the Head Coaching position

Desired Experience, Competencies and Education:

• Demonstrates three years of successful experience as a high school volleyball coach or equivalent experience as player or club coach
• Demonstrates knowledge of the fundamental skills and techniques, as well as the advanced techniques in the sport of Volleyball
• Demonstrates successful personality and character traits appropriate to Catholic educational leadership
• Demonstrates successful ability to teach, enforce, advocate and model appropriate behavior, character traits, Christian and educational values to student-athletes
• Demonstrates successful ability to teach, organize and supervise student-athletes
• Demonstrates successful management and organizational skills
• Demonstrates successful ability to work with parent groups, administrators, staff and students
• Current CPR/First Aid, NFHS or ASEP certification
