Summary

Gooding High School is seeking a dedicated and experienced Varsity Tennis Coach to lead our tennis program and foster a positive and competitive environment for student-athletes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in tennis, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for developing young talent. This full-time position requires commitment to the athletic program, including training, mentoring, and guiding student-athletes to achieve their highest potential both on and off the court.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive training program for the varsity tennis team, focusing on skill development, strategy, and sportsmanship.
  • Organize and conduct daily practices, ensuring effective use of time and resources.
  • Prepare the team for competitions, including scheduling matches, coordinating travel, and managing logistics.
  • Monitor and assess athletes' performance, providing constructive feedback and individualized coaching as needed.
  • Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes teamwork, respect, and personal growth.
  • Communicate regularly with athletes, parents, and school administration regarding team progress, schedules, and expectations.
  • Collaborate with other coaches and staff to promote the overall athletic program and ensure alignment with school goals.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant league rules, regulations, and safety protocols.
  • Maintain accurate records of team activities, including attendance, performance statistics, and athlete eligibility.
  • Organize and facilitate fundraising efforts and community engagement activities to support the tennis program.
Requirements
  • Must pass a background test through the State Department of Education.
  • Proven experience coaching tennis at the high school level or higher, with a strong understanding of the game and competitive strategies.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes to achieve their best both academically and athletically.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of current trends and best practices in coaching and athlete development.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required for practices and competitions.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for all student-athletes.
