Job Summary

The City of Lakewood is looking for a Pilates Reformer Instructor to teach classes at the Carmody Recreation Center. This position is directly supervised by the Fitness Specialist and the Fitness and Wellness Programs Administrator, offering instruction, education, enforcement of policies, and risk management support.

Responsibilities

• Instruct Pilates Reformer classes to community members.
• Educate participants on proper and safe exercise form.
• Enforce policies and procedures in group fitness activity areas and execute risk management plan.
• Maintain Pilates Reformer and CPR/First Aid certifications.
• Assist in teaching other instructors as needed.
• Provide general supervision from the Fitness and Wellness Programs Administrator and the Fitness Specialist.

Job Requirements

• Nationally recognized Pilates Reformer certification.
• AHA or American Red Cross CPR/First Aid certification.

Experience & Certifications

• Willingness to work with a wide array of populations and/or conditions.
• Minimum of 6 months teaching experience.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification.

• Awareness and recognition of exercise contraindications.
• Adherence to class format.
• Reliable and punctual.
• Physical ability to move Reformer equipment between standing vertical and horizontal positions.

• Willingness to help cover or substitute for other instructors as needed.
• Ability to make sound decisions.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Ability to use a computer and online time entry system, knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with other City personnel and the general public.
• Experience in large group presentations highly recommended.
• Ability to recognize deficiencies in class and make necessary modifications as needed.
• Willingness to encourage participation in other fitness programs offered by the City of Lakewood.
• Maintain personal and professional health to act as a role model for patrons and coworkers.

Pay Range

$23.00 - $28.00 per hour (overall range $14.81 - $57.41).
