Job summary

Houlihan Lokey is seeking a Financial Analyst in its Portfolio Valuation & Advisory Services group in San Francisco. You will work on valuations of illiquid securities, build complex models, and prepare client deliverables while collaborating with audit teams and senior management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or Applied Economics required.
• Master’s degree in a quantitative discipline is preferred.
• Strong analytical abilities and Excel proficiency.
• Experience valuing financial instruments with non-linear payoffs is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and value derivatives, structured products, loans, private equity, and other illiquid securities.
• Determine valuation assumptions based on historical performance, collateral type, and scenarios.
• Apply models like DCF, guideline companies/transactions, Black-Scholes extensions, lattice models, or Monte Carlo simulations.
• Perform market research and calibrate models with market data (home price appreciation, prepayments, foreclosures).
• Prepare client deliverables, pitch materials, and information requests with accuracy.
• Assist in due diligence meetings and respond to auditor questions regarding valuations.
• Present valuation analyses to review committees and clients’ senior management.
• Conduct financial-statement analyses and quantitative/qualitative assessments as needed.
• Research general economic and industry conditions and investment attributes of illiquid securities.
• Support sales and marketing efforts for prospective and existing clients.
