Validation Engineer – Intermediate #1029188
Job Description:
The Engine Validation Engineer is responsible for developing and executing the engine validation plan for a major vehicle program.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Manage Bill of Materials (BOM), including releasing BOMs into the management system.
- Coordinate the receipt and management of full engine assembly BOMs.
- Plan and oversee build schedules to meet customer testing and vehicle build requirements, supporting engine builds in EBU and METS preparation.
- Support dynamometer testing procedures.
- Maintain detailed build records for each engine and manage disposition or storage.
- Build and deliver engine assemblies for testing and vehicle builds, supporting product launches.
- Lead the development and improvement of test procedures, validation plans (DV and PV), ensuring they meet performance and design requirements.
- Perform validation testing, root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
- Review and publish test results, and conduct failure mode analysis.
- Generate incident reports and track issues to resolution.
- Regularly update testing status reports and validation plans, ensuring documentation is current.
- Coordinate post-test analysis and teardown activities to identify issues.
- Review reports with the Chief Engineer and ensure proper documentation and storage.
- Provide instructions for test property disposition, reuse, or recycling.
- Complete final reviews post-validation to verify all records are complete and properly stored.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution or equivalent.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience.
- Understanding of automotive processes like DFMEA and DVP&R.
- Knowledge of automotive engine design, components, and testing.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree focusing on engine development, control systems, or calibration.
- Knowledge of CAN communication protocols.
- Experience in validation planning for engine components.
- Over 5 years in engine design, development, or validation.
- Experience with engine teardown and rebuilds.
