Job summary

Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, VA seeks a Mechanical Assistant Device Coordinator to join our team. This full-time role operates Monday–Friday, 7:00/8:00 AM–5:00 PM, focusing on ventricular assist device education and care coordination with an interdisciplinary team.

The ideal candidate will have a nursing degree, at least three years in critical care, and Virginia RN licensure, with strong data documentation and patient education skills.

Qualifications

• VAD education to patients, families and providers.
• Collaborates with interdisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes.
• Maintains and validates data in electronic medical records.

Responsibilities

• Educates VAD patients, families and healthcare providers; collaborates with the team on education and care plans.
• Performs comprehensive patient assessments and documents findings to guide care.
• Collects data for hospital, FDA and regulatory reporting related to implanted devices.
• Supports VAD quality improvement initiatives and helps develop/revise care protocols; enters data into EMR.
• Coordinates with research to ensure INTERMACS registry data validity.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
