Job summary

Merck & Co., Inc. in the United States is seeking a Specialist in Vaccine Bioprocess Development to provide technical support for process development and manufacturing.

You will work within a multidisciplinary team to scale up and transfer processes for veterinary vaccines and biologics. You will collaborate across Bioprocess Technology Solutions, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality and R&D to ensure safety, quality, and regulatory compliance while driving continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required with 2+ years of vaccine/biopharmaceuticals R&D, process development or manufacturing experience (or Master/PhD with related experience).
• Strong written and oral communication, project management, and teamwork skills.
• Experience in regulated manufacturing environments and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Develop and scale up microbial, virus and cell culture processes for veterinary vaccines and therapeutics.
• Transfer processes to production lines ensuring safety, quality and cost-efficiency.
• Lead or join cross-functional teams to meet project timelines and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct technical investigations, validation, and process improvements.
• Identify root causes and address safety, compliance and equipment issues with diverse stakeholders.
• Collaborate with R&D, QC, Regulatory and Manufacturing to bring new products to market.
• Develop and test new technologies; support inspection readiness for new products.
• Lead project charters, timelines, risk tracking, and deliverables with stakeholders.
• Document engineering studies, change controls and validation activities.
• Promote teamwork and leadership behaviors; support environment health and safety initiatives.
• Provide training and mentorship to staff and trainees.
• Occasional off-shift work may be required.
