Job summary

Phipps Houses is seeking a building maintenance worker in New York to join our property services team. You will perform routine cleaning, housekeeping, and basic upkeep to keep lobbies, hallways, restrooms, and common areas in top condition.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• One to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and polishes lighting fixtures, marble surfaces, and trim.
• Cleans rooms, hallways, lobbies, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, laundry room, locker rooms and other work areas.
• Sweeps, scrubs, mops, waxes, and polishes floors and stairways.
• Dusts furniture and equipment, vacuum carpets.
• Polishes metalwork, cleans tiles and saddles.
• Washes walls and woodwork.
• Washes windows, door panels, and sills.
• Empties wastebaskets.
• Cleans vacant apartments as required.
• Check compactor, remove full compactor garbage bags and put out for pick up per schedule.
• Replenishes bathroom supplies.
• Cleans garage, basement area and grounds.
• Shovels snow and clears walkways in winter.
• Transports small equipment or tools between departments.
• Perform other duties as assigned or needed.
