Job summary

Zoox is seeking an experienced verification and validation engineer to review fault-response strategies and lead safety-oriented testing campaigns for autonomous vehicle platforms. You will drive system-level V&V, develop robust metrics, and collaborate across safety, perception, firmware, and controls teams to ensure fail-operational capabilities for Zoox milestones.

The role emphasizes Python data analysis, statistics basics, and building rigorous safety cases.

Qualifications

• BS or higher in Electrical, Computer, or Systems Engineering.
• 5+ years of specialized experience in V&V, safety cases, diagnostics, and system testing.
• Experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and vehicle testing.
• Proficiency in Python for data analysis; basic statistics knowledge.
• Experience building safety cases and reviewing fault-detection strategies.

Responsibilities

• Understand and review vehicle response strategies for fault conditions from all potential sources.
• Develop and manage test planning and execution for safety and fail-operational responses.
• Design and direct system-level V&V campaigns and establish robust testing metrics.
• Collaborate with safety, perception, firmware, vehicle controls, and planning teams to secure buy-in for new processes.
• Analyze, track, and report complex test results to drive platform improvements and V&V reports.
• Apply verification and validation expertise to the compute-platform safety case and accelerate development.
