Job summary

Jobvite, Inc. is seeking an UXO Technician II to identify and classify unexploded ordnance (UXO) and discarded munitions (DMM), and to assist in excavating and moving munitions deemed safe for movement. The role requires performing responsibilities of UXO Sweep Personnel and a UXO Technician I.

You will work in field operations, store explosives per guidance, locate field positions with GPS/maps, and supervise junior personnel while ensuring safety in exclusion zones.

Qualifications

• High School diploma plus prior military EOD experience, or three years experience in response munitions actions or range clearance.
• Graduate of formal UXO training course or EOD assistant courses.
• NAVSCOLEOD basic and underwater portions completed (or foreign equivalent).
• Problem sensitivity — ability to detect when something is wrong.
• Deductive reasoning — apply rules to problems to produce sensible outcomes.
• Physical activities incl. climbing, lifting, walking, stooping, handling materials.
• Ability to identify objects, actions and events.

Responsibilities

• Properly store explosive materials per applicable guidance.
• Determine precise field locations using GPS, maps and compass.
• Perform field collection procedures to identify contaminated soil.
• Prepare on-site holding areas to temporarily stow MEC with acceptable risk.
• Operate transportation for UXO with acceptable risk.
• Perform limited technical supervision of UXO Sweep Personnel.
• Escort personnel within exclusion areas.
• Inspect MPPEH for explosives safety hazards.
