Job summary

WSP is seeking a UXO Technician II to support munitions response actions and range clearance activities, including detection, identification, recovery, and disposal of UXO and MEC. The role involves field operations across multiple sites, safety-focused work, and rigorous documentation.

Required qualifications include 3+ years of EOD/UXO experience, a current 40-Hour HAZWOPER, and US citizenship. Travel to field sites is expected, with remote locations and varying weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Meet UXO-TII qualifications as defined in DoD Explosives Safety Board Technical Paper 18.
• Minimum 3 years of EOD/UXO experience in munitions response or range clearance.
• Current 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification with annual refresher.
• Demonstrated experience recognizing MEC/UXO.
• Knowledge of explosive safety procedures and PPE.
• Ability to work safely in remote field environments and under varying weather conditions.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to travel for field assignments.
• US citizenship is required due to client requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform reconnaissance, identification, and classification of UXO.
• Conduct subsurface UXO investigations using magnetometers.
• Perform excavation and recovery of buried UXO.
• Locate and identify surface UXO through field reconnaissance.
• Establish and maintain safe holding areas for recovered UXO.
• Perform storage, accountability, and handling of UXO and demolition materials.
• Prepare UXO disposal sites and support demolition operations.
• Assemble and prepare firing systems for UXO disposal activities.
• Conduct disposal of UXO and explosive materials.
• Adhere to health and safety requirements and project procedures.
• Support technical documentation and field reporting.
