Job summary

WSP is seeking a UXO Technician II to support munitions response actions and range clearance activities. The role involves detection, identification, recovery, and disposal of UXO and MEC, with emphasis on safety and precise field procedures.

Location scope includes multiple sites including Tampa, Miami, and Orlando, FL, with travel as required. The candidate should have 3+ years of EOD/UXO experience, DoD MEC familiarity, a current 40-hour HAZWOPER, and strong PPE and safety knowledge to

Qualifications

• Meet the qualifications and perform the functions of a UXO Technician II (UXO-TII) as defined in DoD Explosives Safety Board Technical Paper 18.
• Minimum 3 years of EOD/UXO experience, including significant experience supporting munitions response actions and/or range clearance activities.
• Current 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification with annual refresher training.
• Demonstrated experience recognizing MEC, particularly UXO.
• Knowledge of explosive safety procedures and PPE usage.
• Ability to work safely in remote field environments and under varying weather conditions.
• Willingness to travel and support field assignments; US citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform reconnaissance, identification, and classification of UXO including missiles, bombs, projectiles, grenades, rockets, land mines, and related fuzing systems.
• Conduct subsurface UXO investigations using magnetometers and approved detection equipment.
• Perform excavation and recovery of buried UXO using manual and mechanical methods.
• Locate and identify surface UXO through visual inspection and field reconnaissance.
• Establish and maintain safe holding areas for recovered UXO.
• Store, account for, and handle UXO and demolition materials per requirements.
• Prepare UXO disposal sites and support demolition operations.
• Assemble and prepare firing systems for UXO disposal activities.
• Dispose of UXO and explosives via approved burn or detonation methods.
• Adhere to site safety requirements and project procedures; support technical documentation and field reporting.
