Job summary

Familiar Machines & Magic is seeking a Principal UX Designer to lead end-to-end UX across app, web, and embodied experiences. You will translate the product vision into cohesive, launch-ready customer experiences with a systems mindset, bridging digital and physical interactions.

You will collaborate across Design, Product, AI, Software, and Hardware teams and stay hands-on through development to ensure design intent is realized in launchable products.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience leading complex UX products from definition through launch and evolution.
• Deep digital UX expertise spanning system-level experience design and detailed interaction design.
• Robust experience partnering with UX researchers and participating in diverse user research.
• Strong design judgment and visual sensibility aligned with evolving digital landscapes.
• Significant experience shipping consumer products bridging software and physical experiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead translation of product vision into cohesive, launch-ready customer experiences across app, on-device interfaces, and digital touchpoints.
• Define interaction patterns, system states, and frameworks for a cohesive, scalable user experience.
• Establish UX visual language and design system across app, web, and embodied behaviors.
• Collaborate with Design, Product, AI, Software, Hardware, and UXR to ship cross-system experiences.
• Design for the realities of a physical AI product, including edge cases, failure, and recovery.
• Stay hands-on through development with prototyping to validate and guide implementation.
