Job description

We are seeking a Principal Experience Designer with a passion for crafting exceptional user experiences and a proven track record of delivering beloved products from concept to launch. As a senior member of the design team, you will partner closely with enterprise data product teams to drive innovation and elevate data product experiences to a best-in-class standard.

You will lead UX strategy and research, defining a clear, research-driven vision and translating it into a prioritized UX roadmap aligned with product and business goals. This role requires expertise in conducting and guiding complex research efforts, building consensus, and generating excitement around a compelling experience vision. You will establish and maintain scalable design principles, systems, and patterns; define measurable success metrics; and collaborate across Product, Engineering, Design, Research, and Leadership to uncover opportunities and remove blockers.

You will champion human-centered design across the organization while mentoring junior designers and researchers to raise overall craft and consistency. A curiosity for how AI technologies can improve employee experiences is essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as a strategic thought partner to product leaders and stakeholders, consistently representing the voice of the user
  • Share UX strategy early and often, incorporating feedback to refine solutions
  • Cascade strategic context to teams while elevating insights to leadership
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, and Research to drive strategic discovery and dual-track agile practices
  • Lead and guide complex user research initiatives using mixed methods
  • Conduct stakeholder interviews to understand both business and employee needs
  • Establish and scale consistent design patterns through a robust design system
  • Deliver creative direction and conduct design reviews to ensure vision alignment
  • Introduce new design practices and continuously improve team processes
  • Mentor junior designers and researchers to grow team capability
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree plus 10+ years of professional experience in UX strategy and research
  • Mastery in user research (mixed methods) and deep expertise in at least two of the following: visual design, UX design, prototyping, front-end development, or experiment design
  • Foundational knowledge of AI, Natural Language Processing, and Machine Learning
  • Strong ability to make strategic, user-centered decisions while iterating in evolving environments
  • Experience translating research insights into frameworks, opportunity backlogs, and decision artifacts (e.g., PRFAQs, scorecards, one-pagers)
  • Exceptional storytelling skills for communicating complex technical findings to diverse audiences
  • Proven ability to navigate ambiguity, independently scope research, and manage trade-offs
  • Strong alignment and stakeholder management skills at senior levels
  • Excellent analytical and organizational abilities, with skill in translating technical concepts into user flows and diagrams
  • Experience designing human-in-the-loop workflows involving LLMs
  • Familiarity with terminology related to the data lifecycle or financial/investment domains
