Job summary

Familiar Machines & Magic seeks a Principal UX Designer to lead the productization of UX across app, web, and on-product experiences, creating a cohesive system that can be built and shipped.

You will think beyond individual features, bridging digital and physical touchpoints. This role requires deep digital UX expertise, systems thinking, and collaboration with Product, AI, Software, Hardware, and UX Research to deliver end-to-end experiences.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience leading complex UX products from definition through launch.
• Deep digital UX expertise spanning system-level experience design and detailed interaction design.
• Experience partnering with UX researchers and conducting diverse user research.

Responsibilities

• Lead translation of the product vision into a cohesive end-to-end customer experience across apps and on-product interfaces.
• Define interaction patterns and system states to scale the Familiar ecosystem.
• Establish a unified UX language and design system across app, web, and embodied behaviors.
• Collaborate with Design, Product, AI, Software, Hardware, and UXR to ship consistent experiences and resolve cross-system dependencies.
• Design for the realities of a physical AI product, including edge cases, failure, recovery, and support.
• Stay hands-on during development with prototyping to validate and guide implementation.
• Partner to evaluate in-market experience based on data, feedback, and advances in capability.
