Each year, Rotary members invest more than $300 million and 16 million volunteer hours to improve lives and create positive change. The organization is headquartered in Evanston, Illinois.### The roleThe UX Design Lead is responsible for shaping the experiences of one or more products in Rotary's digital suite. The role reports to the Manager of Product Design and sits within the UX Design team. It requires an entrepreneurial mindset and a proactive approach to problem-solving, with ownership over the visual quality, usability, and accessibility of the products it supports.### What you would do* Mature Rotary's visual design system, including token architecture (primitive, semantic, and component-level) and a library of reusable, on-brand components and patterns for web and mobile.* Lead end-to-end design work — from research, personas, and journey mapping through wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity visual execution.* Conduct usability testing and A/B testing to validate design decisions and drive data-informed refinement.* Champion a high aesthetic bar across the design organization and help other designers sharpen their visual craft through feedback, critique, and example.* Pair with UX engineers and product managers to translate Rotary's visual language into pixel-faithful, working artifacts.* Partner with engineering to ensure design tokens and visual details are implemented consistently across product surfaces.* Stay current on visual and motion design trends, including the use of AI tools across the UX lifecycle, and bring fresh perspectives into the product.* Balance Rotary's brand identity with product UI needs to deliver consistent, accessible, and usable experiences at global scale.### What they are looking for* 6–8+ years of professional experience in visual or product design for consumer or SaaS applications, with a portfolio demonstrating both end-to-end process and mastery of visual craft (a portfolio is required).* A degree (B.S., M.S., or B.F.A.) in Communication Design, Graphic Design, Visual Design, Interaction Design, or a related field, or equivalent experience.* Deep expertise in color theory, typography, layout and grid systems, iconography, and motion design.* Experience conducting and synthesizing user research, and validating design decisions through usability and A/B testing.* Advanced fluency in Figma, including component architecture, variables, styles, and design tokens; experience with prototyping tools such as Framer, ProtoPie, or After Effects for high-fidelity motion and interaction design.* Proven experience designing and scaling a visual design system, including hands-on work defining token structures and maintaining component and pattern libraries.* Experience designing UI at global scale, with a strong grasp of WCAG 2.1/2.2 AA+ accessibility as a visual design discipline and localization considerations (RTL layouts, variable text expansion).* Working knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript sufficient to collaborate fluently with engineers on design-to-code visual fidelity.* Familiarity with AI-assisted design and generative tools for exploration and rapid visual iteration.### Working arrangementsThe role is based at Rotary's world headquarters in Evanston, IL, and is designated as Hybrid – Fully Flexible. Employees are expected to work from the office anywhere from once per month to several times a week, with specific days determined by managers based on business requirements. All employees must live within reasonable daily commuting distance of Evanston.
