Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Software / Embedded Systems Engineer in San Diego, CA to join a fast-paced R&D team focused on uncrewed underwater vehicles, maritime sensors, and ISR solutions for NIWC PAC. The role requires a security clearance (SECRET) and an onsite schedule (9/80B).

You will contribute to software operations of UUVs, device drivers, and sensor integration. The position emphasizes firmware development in C/C++, hardware collaboration, and rigorous validation across lab and sea trials,

Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship.
• Existing security clearance is highly desired.
• Active SECRET clearance is required.
• Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering (with relevant experience) or Master of Science in CS/EE.
• Must be flexible and responsive to customer needs.
• Onsite work at NIWC Pacific in San Diego, CA is required.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and deliver uncrewed underwater vehicles (UUVs) software and sensor integration pieces.
• Design, code, and debug firmware in C/C++ for embedded systems.
• Collaborate with hardware teams to select components and ensure firmware operates on the target board.
• Manage validation, documentation, and regression testing.
• Perform hardware prototyping and testing, including at-sea operations when required.
