Leidos is seeking a Software Engineer in San Diego, CA to join a fast-paced, mission-focused engineering team dedicated to prototyping ocean systems. You will drive embedded firmware and software design across multiple disciplines, ensuring robust functionality and reliability.

The role emphasizes collaboration, documentation, and adherence to team standards. A U.S. citizenship with SECRET clearance is required, along with 5+ years in embedded development and proficiency in C, Linux, and ROS 2.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain SECRET clearance; active SECRET preferred.
• BS or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronics or related STEM field.
• 5+ years in development and integration for embedded platforms (Linux app, Linux kernel/OS, NVIDIA Jetson, RTOS/Bare-Metal, ROS 2).
• Proficiency in C and in software version control (Git, Subversion).
• Experience with embedded test equipment and debugging complex embedded systems.

Responsibilities

• Identify embedded firmware and software requirements and evaluate design approaches.
• Architect and design robust embedded firmware and software platforms and build/test processes.
• Implement, test, integrate, and verify firmware and software to meet requirements.
• Develop and maintain documentation (ICD, SRS).
• Coordinate with engineering team to prioritize features and fixes.
