Job summary

Maverick Transportation, LLC is seeking a Detention Operations Analyst to optimize detention processing and ensure drivers are compensated for wait times. You will audit dwell and detention data, and communicate with drivers and shippers to maintain accuracy in real-time account reviews.

Ideal candidates have 1–2 years in logistics or data analytics, with a four-year degree preferred. Proficiency in SQL and Excel is expected.

Qualifications

  • Four-year degree preferred with 1–2 years related experience.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience considered.
  • Strong data auditing and analytical skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor a select group of customers in real time to ensure drivers are loaded/unloaded on time; contact driver/customer for status to verify detention data.
  • Qualify driver for detention pay eligibility based on requirements; develop and maintain audit processes for time-based tables and reports.
  • Manage detention-related requirements with customers to meet expectations and respond to inquiries with data clarifications or explanations.
  • Assist in department action plans supporting the business plan; provide ad hoc reports using existing tools or write custom queries.
  • Use downtime to develop SQL and Excel skills and provide backup support to all team functions; identify efficiencies and process improvements.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

Drives the utilization of our drivers by identifying bottle necks in the loading/unloading process and ensures we are compensated for all detention time as applicable. Controls accuracy of dwell and detention related data for a group of customers by auditing information, actively participating in the detention process, and contacting drivers and shippers on a daily basis for status updates.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Monitor a select group of customers on a real time basis to ensure our drivers are being loaded and unloaded on time. In the event of detention, ensures the accuracy of all information by reaching out to the driver or customer for information.
  2. Qualifies the driver for detention pay eligibility based on meeting certain requirements. Develop and maintain audit processes for time based tables and reports. Recognize repeating patterns in customer payment and detention times and actively works with Sales to manage
  3. Manage all requirements in regards to the detention process with the customer to ensure we are meeting all expectations. Respond in a timely manner to customer or internal inquiries regarding assigned accounts with any data clarifications or process explanations.
  4. Assists in the department action plans that support the company's strategic business plan. Ability to provide requested reports on an ad hoc basis by utilizing existing reporting tools or writing custom queries based on the nature of the request.
  5. Must utilize down time to develop key skills associated with improving accuracy and efficiency, including expanding SQL and Excel abilities as well as furthering knowledge of operations. Learn and provide backup support to all team functions. Contributes to team effort by recognizing and implementing new efficiencies and process improvements.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Prefer a four year college degree with an emphasis in a related field to the position plus 1-2 years related experience and/or training. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Normal working conditions as found within an office setting, wherein there is controlled temperature and a low noise level, plus a minimum of distractions.
