Job summary

Seattle Central College is seeking a Utility Worker-Parking & Facilities Support to maintain HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems, support campus parking operations, and oversee recycling in a full-time on-site role.

The position is 40 hours per week with day shifts, occasional evenings, and overtime as needed. It operates on-site and falls under WFSE represented work terms.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Ability to perform transactions using a computerized POS/cash handling system.
  • Valid Washington State Driver License.

Responsibilities

  • Perform semi-skilled maintenance on buildings, fixtures, equipment, grounds, walkways, and driveways.
  • Assist with maintenance and repair support for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Load and unload trucks and move furniture, equipment, supplies, and materials; assemble new furniture as needed.
  • Support campus moves and relocation of office furniture, including desks, tables, file cabinets, bookcases, folding tables, and chairs.
  • Maintain the campus recycling program, including trash, recycling, and compost receptacles in exterior campus areas.
  • Oversee parking garage cleanliness, including routine upkeep and coordinating garbage removal with custodial staff.
  • Visually check entering vehicles for valid parking permits and issue daily campus parking permits.
  • Collect parking fees, process transactions using a computerized POS system, and reconcile cash receipts.
  • Issue parking violations to improperly or illegally parked vehicles in accordance with campus policies and procedures.
  • Greet and direct visitors to parking areas, campus offices, and facilities while providing transportation and general campus information.
  • Perform light custodial cleaning duties in parking garages and campus parking lots.
  • Assist with maintenance and grounds needs as a second-person helper and work independently as assigned.
  • Participate in required safety trainings and follow OSHA, WISHA, and L&I safety requirements.
  • Perform other related facilities, parking, maintenance, or operational support duties as assigned by the Facilities Supervisor to support campus operational needs.

Seattle Central College is looking to hire Utility Worker-Parking and Facilities Support in Facilities Department.

Salary Range

$44,916 to $55,512 annually (depending on experience).

Opportunity is open until filled, first review of materials will begin August 17 th , 2026.

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Utility Worker 2 - Parking & Facilities Support is responsible for assisting with the maintenance and repair of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems, while also supporting campus parking operations, parking garage cleanliness, recycling efforts, and general facilities support at Seattle Central College's main campus and satellite locations.

This position performs a blend of facilities maintenance, customer service, parking enforcement, custodial coordination, and operational support duties to help maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming campus environment. This position may also perform other related facilities, parking, or operational duties as directed by the Facilities Supervisor to support campus needs.

This position is full-time, working 40 hours per week, primarily day shift, with occasional evening work and overtime opportunities as needed.

This position works 100% of the time on-site.

This position is governed by a collective bargaining agreement with representation by WFSE.
