Job summary

King County’s Department of Natural Resources and Parks – Solid Waste Division is seeking a Wastewater Treatment Operator. This position supports the Cedar Hills Regional Landfill and other sites, ensuring safe, compliant operation of wastewater systems.

You will monitor pumps, conduct tests, prepare data sheets, and respond to incidents in an outdoor work environment. The role requires 40 hours/week, non-exempt status, and eligibility for union representation.

Qualifications

• Experience with landfill wastewater conveyance facilities and systems.
• Experience operating pumps, computerized motors, meters, valves, and related equipment.
• Experience performing repairs on landfill wastewater conveyance systems.
• Troubleshooting skills for complex wastewater systems and odor control.
• Skill in operating forklifts, Vactor trucks, portable pumps, cranes, generators, safety equipment.
• Basic computer skills and data entry for reporting.

Responsibilities

• Perform control tests to determine if landfill conveyance systems operate correctly.
• Operate, service, and maintain pumps, valves, motors, meters, and related equipment.
• Test conveyance pump stations, pressure, temperature, and water flow.
• Inspect water conveyance equipment and facilities and perform repairs.
• Prepare daily control data sheets and input data into the computer system.
