Davey Tree Surgery Co. is seeking a utility tree trimmer to join our outdoor team in Ocala, FL. The role focuses on climbing and performing pruning and removal services for major electric utilities, using various pruning systems and equipment.

You will work alongside a crew, maintain equipment, and apply industry standards while growing your skills through training and real-world field experience. Opportunities for advancement and comprehensive benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors and ability to work outside in varying weather.
• Must complete Davey Tree orientation and safety training on hire.
• Must have valid driver's license; CDL may be preferred depending on state.
• Line clearance/tree work experience is preferred but not required.
• Pesticide licenses/certifications are a plus where required by law.
• ISA certifications are desirable for career advancement.

Responsibilities

• Climb trees using DdRT/MRS or SRT/SRS systems.
• Perform pruning and removal for utility providers, safely and skillfully.
• Prune treetops and repair damaged trees by trimming or removal.
• Remove broken limbs from utility lines, roofs, and objects.
• Apply tree identification knowledge and pruning guidelines.
• Maintain and operate tools/equipment (chainsaws, chippers, lifts).
• Work as part of a crew with ground support and foreperson.
• Grow capabilities and reach based on performance.

Position Overview

Job Duties

What You’ll Do:

• Climb Trees! Davey offers both DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems

• Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for major electric utility providers. Including but not limited to:

• Pruning treetops and repairing damaged trees by trimming or removal

• Removing broken limbs from utility lines, roofs, and other objects

• Application of tree identification knowledge and industry pruning guidelines

• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including, chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more

• Operate as an active crew member with supporting ground crew and foreperson

Qualifications

What We’re Seeking:

• Love of the outdoors

• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire

• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire

• Required: valid driver’s license

• Preferred: Commercial Driver’s License-Class A or B with Airbrake Endorsement

• Preferred: line clearance experience or other related tree work

• Preferred: relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law

• Preferred: ISA Certified Arborist®, ISA Certified Tree Worker®, and/or TCIA Certified Tree Care Safety Professional®
