Job summary

Meriwether Godsey is hiring a part-time Utility Steward/Dishwasher at Germantown Friends School in Philadelphia. This role supports busy dining operations, handles dishwashing, set-up, and sanitation to keep service running smoothly.

Candidates should be able to pass an FBI background check and have prior dishwasher experience. The position offers $18 per hour, Monday–Friday, 9am–2:30pm, with uniforms, meals, training, and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Must pass FBI background check.
• Previous utility/dishwasher experience required.
• Ability to measure products and convert units.
• Awareness of commercial kitchen equipment and routine cleaning.
• Reliability and willingness to work in hot, humid environment.
• Good communication skills and great attitude.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate dish machine for cleaning and sanitizing dishes, trays, and utensils.
• Record dish-machine temperatures and report issues promptly.
• Transport supplies and assist in dining area setup.
• Clean dining and serving areas and replenish as needed.
• Set up and use a three-compartment sink for pots and pans.
• Maintain kitchen sanitation and trash removal.
• Assist with receiving and storing food and ensure safety.
• Perform duties per food safety and sanitation best practices.
• Other duties as assigned.

Meriwether Godsey is looking for a Part-time Utility Steward/Dishwasher at Germantown Friends School, an independent day school for students in Early Childhood through Grade 12 in Philadelphia's historic Germantown neighborhood.

• $18 per hour
• Must be available: Monday-Friday, 9a-2:30p

What the Utility Steward/Dishwasher will do:

• Set up and operate the dish machine for cleaning and sanitizing dishes, trays, silverware, glassware, pots, and pans: scrape, separate, and organize items
• Note and record dish-machine temperatures, reporting low temperatures or machine malfunctions immediately
• Transport related supplies and assist in the setup of dining and serving areas
• Clean dining and serving areas throughout and after the meal period and replenish to ensure service without interruption
• Set up and use a three-compartment sink for cleaning and sanitizing pots and pans
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen and dining areas, including sweeping, mopping floors, and removal of trash
• Assist with receiving and storing food products and food preparation following correct food handling procedures to ensure food safety
• Perform all duties according to food safety and sanitation best practices
• Other duties, as assigned
