Job Summary
Under close supervision, perform work as assigned, assisting in the maintenance, testing and repair of all types of transmission and distribution tools and equipment. Test, inspect, maintain, service and transport equipment. Assemble equipment and verify for correctness. Assist with work performed at field locations which include, but are not limited to, customer premises and AEP Stations. Comply and conform to all safety and environmental regulations.
Job Description
What you’ll do
- Promote and enforce the Company's Accident Prevention and Safety and Health Programs.
- Receive, inspect, assemble, test, program and clean meters and equipment in a shop environment.
- Assist in the repairs of distribution and transmission electrical equipment as assigned.
- Inspect, test, pack and ship insulated protective equipment and maintain data.
- Assist in maintaining the inventory of metering equipment.
- Use and properly maintain shop tools, test equipment, portable measuring instruments, and other equipment utilized.
- Become familiar with the Company's meter standards and with the functions of metering equipment where applicable to assigned work.
- Assist in filtering, transferring, and handling of insulating oil for reuse in electrical equipment, or for transport.
- Complete the repair and testing of tools and equipment.
- Paint, stencil and prepare electrical equipment for shipment following departmental procedures.
- Operate company vehicles and fork trucks as directed. Operate material handling equipment, such as overhead cranes, and perform rigging as directed.
- Participate in job briefings and safety meetings.
- Demonstrate the highest standards of ethical behavior and support the Company's Corporate Compliance Policy.
- Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education requirements
- High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
Work Experience requirement
- None expected for this level of progression.
Other Must Haves
- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver license.
- Must have safe work habits and adhere to all safety rules and practices of the Company.
- Acceptable written and verbal communications skills.
- Work productively and function effectively with the team concept.
- Must be able to treat the Company's and customers' business as confidential.
- Must successfully complete all job demonstrations, examinations or other training required within such time frame as determined by the Company.
- Must be willing to work overtime as required by job responsibilities.
- Must acquire within such time frame as determined by the company, the qualifications necessary to perform the duties of the Utility Servicer A, or vacate the current job classification.
- Must be able to hear spoken words via telephone, cell phone or during individual or group meetings.
- Must be physically capable of performing all the essential physical functions of the position and have the ability to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to perform the duties and responsibilities of a Utility Servicer A.
- May have to lift and move up to 50 lb objects; move and climb up to 28 ft ladders.
- May have to be fitted annually for respirator / breathing apparatus.

- Compensation Grade: U072-R87
- Compensation Range: $25.02 - $27.33
Physical Demand Level
The Physical Demand Level for this job is: H - Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10-20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.
