Job summary

The City of Peoria's Water Department is seeking a Utility Plant Operator I for the Greenway Water Treatment Plant. The role focuses on monitoring, operating, and performing basic preventive maintenance on treatment plant equipment and processes.

You will conduct routine inspections and address issues to ensure smooth plant operation. Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent and may have preferred internship experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Preferred prior experience in a similar role or completion of the Peoria Water Services internship program.
• Solid understanding of standard and specialized techniques, methods, practices, procedures, and forms.

• Monitor, operate and perform basic preventive maintenance on treatment plants.
• Conduct routine inspections and identify issues on processes and equipment.
• Shift work, weekends, holidays, standby duty, and call-back duty may be required.

Minimum Requirements

Education:

• High school graduation or equivalency.

Experience:

• Preferred previous experience in a similar role or completion of the Peoria Water Services internship program.
• The position requires a solid understanding of both standard and specialized techniques, methods, practices, procedures, and forms, with tasks ranging from moderate to complex in nature.

Physical Demands:

• Work requires heavy physical exertion and effort.

Certification & Other Requirements:

• Valid Arizona Class “D” Drivers license upon hire.
• Must obtain an ADEQ Grade I Water Treatment or Grade I Wastewater Treatment Certification within one year of hire, depending on assignment.
