Job summary

The City of Peoria’s Water Department has an excellent opportunity for a Utility Plant Operator I at the Greenway Water Treatment Plant. The role focuses on monitoring, operating, and performing basic preventive maintenance on treatment plants, including routine inspections and issue identification.

Some duties may include other tasks as assigned. Shift work, weekends, holidays, standby, and on-call may be required.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalency.
• Preferred previous experience in a similar role or completion of the Peoria Water Services internship program.
• The position requires a solid understanding of both standard and specialized techniques, methods, practices, procedures, and forms, with tasks ranging from moderate to complex in nature.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, operate, and perform basic preventive maintenance on treatment plants.
• Perform routine inspections and identify issues on processes and equipment at treatment plants.
• Complete related tasks as assigned; shift work, weekends, holidays, standby duty, and call-back duty may be required.

• Valid Arizona Class “D” Drivers license upon hire.
• Must obtain an ADEQ Grade I Water Treatment or Grade I Wastewater Treatment Certification within one year of hire, depending on assignment.
