Job summary

Valmet in Columbus, MS seeks a mechanically skilled Utility Operator to support a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will blast and cement rolls, prepare them for Autoclave, and operate Autoclaves while performing routine maintenance and safe handling of equipment.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, mechanical aptitude, ability to follow instructions, and the physical capability to lift 25–50 lbs. Background checks and a pre-employment physical may apply.

Qualifications

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Blasting rolls
• cementing rolls
• preparing roll for Autoclave
• Operating Autoclaves
• Making minor repairs and adjustments to Autoclaves
• Installing and removing bearings and process heads, transporting rolls
• Loading machines
• Moving raw material, mixing cement
• Cleaning, removing waste materials from machines
• Ability to operate forklift to move parts
• Conforms to applicable specifications
• Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of work area and equipment
• Always observes safety policies
• Complete tasks while following all safety and environmental policies and procedures
• Performs other miscellaneous duties and/or other special projects as required
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervision

Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications

• High School graduate or GED equivalent
• Mechanical aptitude, ability to understand, follow instructions, learn the use of all methods and practices used in vulcanization of rolls, and learn to use all measuring instruments and graphs required to check and perform job functions
• Knowledge of specifications within job functions
• Capable wearing and using respirator and other safety equipment
• Having full range of physical movement and able to use equipment to lift and move considerable weight
• Capable lifting 25 to 50 lbs
• Demonstrated effective customer service skills in dealing with vendors and internal customers
