Job summary

Prince William Water seeks an entry-level Mechanic to assist with maintenance, installation, and repair of pumps, piping, and related systems. You will support senior mechanics, perform preventive maintenance, and document activities in the CMMS, while upholding safety standards and quality.

A valid driver’s license is required, with on-call duties and a path toward expanded responsibilities. Ideal candidates possess basic mechanical knowledge, the ability to read manuals, and strong teamwork

Qualifications

• Basic mechanical maintenance knowledge and safety requirements.
• Ability to read and follow equipment manuals, SOPs, and MSDS.
• Ability to work in a team and follow supervisor guidance.
• Comfort with basic computer use and CMMS logging.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior mechanics with maintenance, installation, and repair of pumps, piping, and related equipment.
• Provide preventive maintenance tasks such as inspections, lubrication, and filter changes.
• Assist with general equipment installation and repairs.
• Identify and report building or equipment issues requiring maintenance.
• Collaborate with mechanics on daily tasks and projects.
• Document daily maintenance notes in the CMMS system and respond to emails.
• Follow safety procedures and wear required PPE.
• Assist with transfer of chemicals as needed and operate PW Water vehicles.
