Job summary

RECONN is hiring a Utility Inspection Technician in the Providence, RI area. You’ll check gas meters for leaks and corrosion, perform visual inspections, and complete all required paperwork during daytime shifts. This is a full-time, outdoor role with possible overtime and occasional weekends.

Training is provided, and you’ll report to your assigned work area at the start of each shift. Starting pay ranges from $24 to $32 per hour, with new technicians advancing to $25/hr once fully qualified

Qualifications

• Able and willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Available to work overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed.
• Able to stand and walk long periods; lift up to 75 lbs.
• Proficiency with technology and clear communication required.

Responsibilities

• Check gas meters for leaks and corrosion and perform visual inspections.
• Complete required paperwork/data during each inspection.
• Report on-time to the designated work area at shift start.
• Identify abnormal operating conditions and document inspection results.
• Work daytime, full-time with possible overtime; weekends may be required.

Job Description: Text JOBS to 811DIG (811344) to connect with our hiring team today! The starting pay for this position is $24-$32/hr., depending on experience. New technicians will be moved to $25/hr. once fully qualified and working independently in the field and $26/hr. after reaching their first anniversary date. Utility Inspection Technician: Responsible for checking gas meters for leaks and corrosion. This includes visual inspection and ensuring all required paperwork/data are completed. Meter Inspection Technicians will be required to report to their respective work area on time at the start of each shift. While on-site, the technician will be responsible for identifying any abnormal operating conditions along with accurately filling out all forms associated with the inspection visit (the form may be electronic or paper). These are daytime, full-time positions and overtime may be required. Instructor-led training will be provided. This position may require you to work weekends. We are currently hiring throughout the Providence, RI area.

What We Need from You (Our Requirements)

• Able and willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Previous outdoor experience is a plus.
• Available to work overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed.
• Able to stand and walk for long periods of time on varying types of terrain; bend and stoop; lift heavy items up to 75 lbs.
• Proficiency with technology.
• Able to communicate clearly with colleagues, customers, contractors, and homeowners.
• Customer service experience is a plus.
• Able to pass a drug screen (this is a safety-sensitive position).
• Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record required.
• Ability to use simple hand tools.
• Ability to read a utility map.
