Job summary

RECONN is hiring Utility Inspection Technicians to perform entry-level inspections of gas meters and pipes at commercial and residential facilities. You will visually inspect for leaks and corrosion, complete required forms, and report to the work area on time each shift.

Training is provided, and overtime including weekends may be required. Starting pay is $24–$32 per hour, with progression to $25 per hour after full qualification and $26 per hour after first anniversary.

Qualifications

• Able and willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Proficiency with technology and basic devices.
• Able to communicate clearly with colleagues, customers, contractors, and homeowners.
• Customer service experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Enter commercial and residential facilities to check gas meters and pipes for leaks and corrosion, with visual inspection and proper paperwork.
• Report to the work area on time at the start of each shift and identify abnormal operating conditions.
• Fill out all inspection forms accurately, paper or electronic.

New technicians will be moved to $25/hr. once fully qualified and working independently in the field and $26/hr. after reaching their first anniversary date. Utility Inspection Technician

Responsible for entering commercial and residential facilities to check gas meters and pipes for leaks and corrosion. This includes visual inspection and ensuring all required paperwork/data are completed. Meter Inspection Technicians will be required to report to their respective work area on time at the start of each shift. While on-site, the technician will be responsible for identifying any abnormal operating conditions along with accurately filling out all forms associated with the inspection visit (the form may be electronic or paper). These are daytime, full-time positions and overtime may be required. Instructor-led training will be provided. This position may require you to work weekends. We are currently hiring throughout the Farmington and Marlborough, MA areas.

What We Need from You (Our Requirements)

• Able and willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Previous outdoor experience is a plus.
• Available to work overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed.
• Able to stand and walk for long periods of time on varying types of terrain; bend and stoop; lift heavy items up to 75 lbs.
• Proficiency with technology.
• Able to communicate clearly with colleagues, customers, contractors, and homeowners.
• Customer service experience is a plus.
• Able to pass a drug screen (this is a safety-sensitive position).
• Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record required.
• Ability to use simple hand tools.
• Ability to read a utility map.
