Job summary

Reconn Utility Services is seeking a dedicated Utility Inspection Technician to inspect gas meters for leaks and corrosion, perform visual inspections, and ensure all paperwork is completed accurately. You will report on-site conditions, start shifts on time, and progress as you become fully qualified in the field.

This daytime, full-time role may require weekend work and overtime. Training is provided, and the Boston area is actively hiring.

Qualifications

• Able and willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Available to work overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed.
• Able to stand and walk for long periods and lift up to 75 lbs.
• Proficiency with technology and devices.
• Clear communication with colleagues and customers.

Responsibilities

• Check gas meters for leaks and corrosion with accuracy.
• Complete inspection paperwork and forms (electronic or paper).

The starting pay for this position is $24-$32/hr., depending on experience. New technicians will be moved to $25/hr. once fully qualified and working independently in the field and $26/hr. after reaching their first anniversary date.

Utility Inspection Technician: Responsible for checking gas meters for leaks and corrosion. This includes visual inspection and ensuring all required paperwork/data are completed. Meter Inspection Technicians will be required to report to their respective work area on time at the start of each shift. While on-site, the technician will be responsible for identifying any abnormal operating conditions along with accurately filling out all forms associated with the inspection visit (the form may be electronic or paper).

These are daytime, full-time positions and overtime may be required. Instructor-led training will be provided. This position may require you to work weekends.

What We Need From You (Our Requirements)

• Able and willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Previous outdoor experience is a plus
• Available to work overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed
• Able to stand and walk for long periods of time on varying types of terrain; bend and stoop; lift heavy items up to 75 lbs.
• Proficiency with technology
• Able to communicate clearly with colleagues, customers, contractors, and homeowners. Customer service experience is a plus
• Able to pass a drug screen (this is a safety-sensitive position)
• Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record required
• Ability to use simple hand tools
• Ability to read a utility map
