Job summary

Utz Brands, Inc. in Kings Mountain, NC, is expanding our manufacturing facility and seeking a dedicated Utility II to join the team. The Utility II supports production areas, operates equipment, assists sanitation, and helps with inventory flow.

You will learn operator tasks over a 3-month onboarding period, work with forklifts or pallet jacks, and help ensure safe, efficient production. The role emphasizes teamwork and adherence to food safety standards.

Qualifications

• Must be willing to learn operator jobs over a 3-month onboarding period.
• Previous food production experience preferred, including operating fryers or packaging equipment.
• Ability to multi-task and follow safety rules.

Responsibilities

• Provide coverage for other Utilities and Operators as needed.
• Operate touch screens and data entry equipment in for assigned tasks.
• Move materials using forklifts or pallet jacks to support production.
• Ensure accurate consumption of materials from production to Inventory.
• Attend End of Month Inventory one weekend per month.
• Organize new inventory and maintain stock according to best practices.
• Maintain cleanliness and safe operation of work area and equipment.
• Identify and report safety or equipment issues promptly.
• Suggest continuous improvement opportunities.
• Support Food Safety programs and report problems to supervisor.
• Perform other duties to support department objectives.

Job description

At Utz Quality Foods, we have expanded our Kings Mountain, NC manufacturing facility and looking for a dedicated Utility II to join our team. The Utility II assists as back up in all the production processes and positions by supporting the production areas including Operating equipment, sanitation, and stocking/consumption of inventory.

Responsibilities

• Provide coverage for other Utilities, Operators, , and/or Co-workers as needed according to established requirements and procedures for the assigned tasks. (For more information, review all other job postings)
• Operate touch screens and various pieces of production and data entry equipment required for operation of equipment in assigned area when filling in for operators.
• Move and place necessary materials to support production needs using forklifts or pallet jacks.
• Ensure the accurate consumption of materials from production to Inventory
• Must be able to work one weekend a month for End of Month Inventory
• Organize new inventory according to best practices; double-stacking is required
• Ensure adherence to established safety standards and proactively communicating and addressing issues for the plant supporting a zero-accident culture.
• Ensure work area, machinery and other equipment are kept clean and well maintained.
• Proactively identify, communicate, and where applicable, address safety and equipment related issues.
• Providing suggestions on continuous improvement opportunities.
• Works with management and fellow associates to ensure Food Safety programs are followed.
• Reports food, office or operational safety problems to a supervisor or manager for initiating action.
• Performs other duties as assigned that will impact and support the overall outcome of company and department objectives.

Requirements

• Must be willing to learn operator jobs over a 3-month period of time from initial onboarding.
• Previous food experience required including operating of fryers or packaging equipment.
• Must have the ability to multi-task.
• Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
• Must possess basic math skills.
• Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 70 lbs.
