Job summary

Utz Quality Foods, Inc in Kings Mountain, NC is expanding its manufacturing facility and seeking a dedicated Utility II to join the team. The Utility II assists as back up in all production processes, supporting the production areas including operating equipment, sanitation, and inventory handling.

You will cover for other Utilities and Operators, learn operator tasks during onboarding, and adhere to safety and food safety standards to sustain a zero-accident culture.

Qualifications

• Must be willing to learn operator jobs over a 3-month onboarding period.
• Previous food experience including operating fryers or packaging equipment.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Must communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Basic math skills required.
• Able to lift, push, and pull up to 70 lbs.
• Proficiency with basic hand tools.
• Adhere to all personal and food safety rules and policies.
• Team-oriented with a strong safety mindset.
• Commitment to company values and safety.

Responsibilities

• Provide coverage for other Utilities and Operators as needed.
• Operate touch screens and data entry equipment when filling in for operators.
• Move materials using forklifts or pallet jacks to support production.
• Ensure accurate consumption of materials from production to inventory.
• Work one weekend per month for End of Month inventory.
• Organize new inventory following best practices; double-stacking as required.
• Maintain clean and safe work areas and equipment.
• Identify and communicate safety and equipment issues proactively.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and food safety programs.

Job description

At Utz Quality Foods, we have expanded our Kings Mountain, NC manufacturing facility and looking for a dedicatedUtility IIto join our team. The Utility II assists as back up in all the production processes and positions by supporting the production areas including Operating equipment, sanitation, and stocking/consumption of inventory.

Responsibilities:

• Provide coverage for other Utilities, Operators, , and/or Co-workers as needed according to established requirements and procedures for the assigned tasks. (For more information, review all other job postings)
• Operate touch screens and various pieces of production and data entry equipment required for operation of equipment in assigned area when filling in for operators.
• Move and place necessary materials to support production needs using forklifts or pallet jacks.
• Ensure the accurate consumption of materials from production to Inventory
• Must be able to work one weekend a month for End of Month Inventory
• Organize new inventory according to best practices; double-stacking is required
• Ensure adherence to established safety standards and proactively communicating and addressing issues for the plant supporting a zero-accident culture.
• Ensure work area, machinery and other equipment are kept clean and well maintained.
• Proactively identify, communicate, and where applicable, address safety and equipment related issues.
• Providing suggestions on continuous improvement opportunities.
• Works with management and fellow associates to ensure Food Safety programs are followed.
• Reports food, office or operational safety problems to a supervisor or manager for initiating action.
• Performs other duties as assigned that will impact and support the overall outcome of company and department objectives.
