Job summary

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Houston District Utility Section is seeking a Utility Coordinator I to support the Utility Section in coordinating for TxDOT projects, including agreement assembly. The role requires extensive contact with private and governmental entities and involves onsite duties in Houston.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Grad or Equivalent.
• Experience: None.
• Licenses: Valid driver’s license.
• Some knowledge of: Principles of utility coordination and associated terminology; Public relations for maintaining effective working relationships; Reading and interpreting plans, schematics, blueprints and maps.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and perform technical work related to new utility installations and relocations.
• Assist in researching problems and coordinating solutions regarding potential utility conflicts and reimbursements.
• Establish and coordinate activities between the Department, federal agencies, utility companies and other entities.
• Review and processing of new utility installation permits.
• Implement and interpret Department policies related to utility adjustments and reimbursements.
• Meet with utility representatives to explain policy and relocation processes, negotiate, and resolve problems.
• Monitor installation/removal, adjustment or relocation of utilities.
• Prepare and maintain confidential and sensitive records and reports.
• Enter and maintain data in TxDOT systems with supervision.
