Job summary

A leading pharmaceutical company in Monroe, North Carolina, is seeking an entry-level Utility Mechanic. This position involves performing routine tasks, completing work orders, maintaining workspace organization, and ensuring all training is current. Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, along with experience in utilities maintenance. Qualifications

Job description

Overview

Position Summary. Entry-level position. Performs routine tasks as directed. The Utility Mechanic 1 is responsible for completing Work Orders and PMs. Logs Work Orders and PMs in equipment log books. Follow SOPs to assist operators with equipment use and setup. Read manuals and look up parts. Working in the shift operation is mandatory.

Responsibilities
  • Complete Training: All training stays up to date with no past due.
  • Complete Work Orders: Work orders completed and properly documented in the CMMS with proper attachments.
  • Complete PM Work Orders: Preventative work orders completed and properly documented in the CMMS with proper attachments.
  • Clean & Organize Shop Areas: Maintain clean work, shop and office areas. 5S tool boxes and cabinets.
  • Order Parts: Identify parts needed using manuals or contacting vendors for part numbers and request quotes from vendors.
  • Update PM’s: Make PM’s more effective by adding requirements that are missing and removing unnecessary steps.
  • Log Books: Log book entries as per GDP practices.
Qualifications
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required and Bio or Pharma certificate (experience may be considered in lieu of certificate).
  • An associate’s degree or Technical certificate in a related field is preferred.
  • Experience: Two years’ experience in utilities maintenance position preferably in a pharma or biotech manufacturing site.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
  • Ability to operate a computer proficiently
  • Ability to communicate via e-mail
  • Ability to stay up to date with training
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and electronic control systems
  • Ability to be gown certified
  • Ability to read electrical drawings, system drawings and panel layout sheets; as well as wiring diagrams
  • Familiar with use of test equipment (digital voltmeters, ammeters, temperature probes, pneumatic calibrators)
  • Knowledge of servicing and operating building utility equipment (boilers, air compressors, chillers, Purified Water, Water For Injection, hot water systems and Clean Steam Generation and Distribution) is a plus
  • Working knowledge of hand and power tools
  • Recent familiarity with cGMP documentation and protocols
  • Recent familiarity with pharmaceutical packaging line equipment
  • Recent familiarity with Aseptic Manufacturing Equipment (Vial Filling, Lyophilizers, Prefilled Syringes and Ampoules)
  • Bio or Pharma certificate, electrical license, boiler and/or HVAC certification
Other
  • Able to stand or sit for long periods of time and to work alone in tight mechanical spaces
  • Able to lift up to 75lbs
