Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Utility Operations Technician to monitor and maintain pharmaceutical site utilities, including HVAC, boilers, and compressed gas systems. The role requires hands-on maintenance, data analysis, and strong regulatory awareness to ensure safe and compliant operations.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize energy use, perform routine preventive tasks, and respond promptly to alarms and outages, supporting continuous manufacturing operations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

Job description

• Operate and monitor utility systems, including compressed gases, cooling towers, plant steam, chillers, boilers, HVAC, fire alarm systems, and utility tank farms
• Monitor equipment performance, conduct routine maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance
• Analyze data to identify improvements, implement energy-saving measures, and optimize utility usage
• Perform basic preventive maintenance and assist senior operators with complex maintenance tasks
• Respond promptly to equipment failures, power outages, fire alarms, and critical equipment alarms
• Monitor compressed gas inventory and chemical levels in boiler feed water, cooling tower water, and plant steam
• Operate and monitor the site building management system (BMS) and Delta V
• Monitor and assist with the waste neutralization system
• Maintain accurate records and assist with corrective actions for non-compliance issues
• Assist with process improvements and participate in continuous improvement initiatives
• Support site operations and emergency work orders during off-hours as needed
• Perform other assigned duties

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED
• 1–2 years of experience in Utility Operations or a related field
• Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
• Ability to operate equipment and hand tools
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements for pharmaceutical sites
• Effective written and oral communication
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Strong organizational skills
• Must support a 24/7 manufacturing facility, including shifts, on-call work, and weekends
• Ability to work in environments requiring respiratory and hearing protection
• Ability to operate a motor vehicle or Powered Industrial Truck
• 20/20 corrected vision and ability to distinguish colors
• Ability to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolding, and ramps
• Ability to stand and sit for up to 12 hours
• Ability to operate machinery and power tools
• Ability to move objects up to 33 pounds
• Ability to bend, push, pull, reach, twist, and work in temperatures from 0–115°F, outdoor elements, enclosed spaces, and heights over 4 feet
• Associate degree in mechanical, electrical, applied engineering, or industrial technology (preferred)
• Prior utility operations experience in a pharmaceutical manufacturing or industrial environment (preferred)
• Experience with data tracking software such as CMMS (preferred)
