Job summary

The City of Springfield, Ohio is seeking a Utilities Leadperson to supervise a crew performing maintenance and repair of water and sewer systems, and to operate related vehicles and sewer-cleaning equipment.

The role requires a high school diploma, a valid Ohio CDL with tanker and air brake endorsements, and a valid Ohio Driver's License. Ohio EPA Class I Certification must be obtained within three years, with additional certifications within five years as required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and considerable experience in maintenance and repair of water distribution systems.
• Valid Ohio Class A CDL with tanker and air brake endorsements; 180 days to obtain if necessary.
• Valid Ohio Driver's License at time of hire; meet and maintain insurability under City’s plan.
• Ability to obtain Ohio EPA Class I Certification in Water Distribution or Wastewater within three years; five years for other area.

Responsibilities

• Lead worker over a crew of employees involved in maintenance and repair tasks.
• Safely operate assigned vehicles, including sewer-cleaning equipment.
• Maintain and repair water mains, hydrants, service lines and storm/sewer lines.
• Install or repair water services and supervise subordinates.
• Maintain records and prepare written reports of work performed.
